I mean the literal six-day creation (which, worldwide at least, is a belief that is held by the minority), and I don't seek them out, but if I meet them (and I'm not required to remain silent for my job), I'll tell them they're morons. I've called DARE activists liars to their face in front of Best Buy when they told me pot ruins people's lives (that's my biggest objection to the program: it puts marijuana on the same level as crack or heroine, which is dishonest beyond words).

Its not just about criminalizing to me. Honestly, I think all drugs should be de-criminalized (my body, my decision), but I'm fine with them being illegal for children (as they all are, including alcohol and tobacco). My problem is this mind-set we have that we can scare children into doing what we want by exagerrating and outright lying to them, rather than educating them. And the problem is, kids know when we're lying, and so rather than learning the bad information we want to give them, they don't learn anything at all...and we hand over our society to another generation who doesn't know how to run it properly.

The same is true with sex education. We need to stop talking down to kids. Recently they found that teen sex can be reduced with "abstinence focused" sex ed, and the right is trying to spin it as "abstinence only," when the two are totally different programs. "Abstinence focused" still discusses birth control options, and emphasizes waiting until the time is right for you, over waiting until marriage (because, naturally, everyone has exactly the same value system ).

But no, the right can't stand the thought of children actually being given the truth.

I'll actually accept this one, since it was within the same thread. But, to be clear: I didn't hate her when she was alive, because I didn't hear anything other than the standard "wonderful humanitarian" schtick until after she was dead. Then I found out about the lack of transparency in her organization's spending, her refusal to distinguish between saveable and hopeless patients (I mean, it may sound cold, but countless people have died because of this), or the way her nuns would ask non-Christians to be baptized just before they died (knowing they were no longer in a state of mind to give any meaningful consent to a religious conversion).

Update: I searched for that phrase. The only places it appears on this board are in Scooter's above post, and in this post quoting Scooter. Sounds like he's just making stuff up.
